# What is the share of backing?

What an address holds on the leaderboard: each token's bytes divided among its holders by units held.

The [share of backing](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/share-of-backing/) is an address's figure on [the leaderboard](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/the-leaderboard/). Each token's bytes under the chosen book divide among its holders by their share of the supply, and the shares are summed. The share is by units held, not by value, so a token's single holder carries all its bytes.
