"Every byte counted exactly once." Each block partitions into four categories, [claimed](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/claimed-bytes/), [carriage](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/carriage/), [burned](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/burned-bytes/) and [unclaimed](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/unclaimed-bytes/), that sum to the block's exact size, with no byte in two of them. block.space calls this partition its trust anchor: the categories are complete and exclusive, and anyone can add the numbers.
