# share of backing

What an address holds on the [leaderboard](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/the-leaderboard/): a token's bytes under the chosen book, divided among its holders in proportion to the units each holds, over the holder total the source indexer reports, never the protocol's stated supply. An address holding half of a token's units is backed by half of that token's bytes. A non-fungible unit carries all of its token's bytes to its one holder. The share is by units held, not by value.
