# Coverage

How much of Book A the holders appendix can place on addresses, protocol by protocol: what the gap is made of, which protocols are not measured, and the checks behind the figure.

[BTI](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/bti/) attributes bytes to tokens, never to addresses. To rank addresses, [the holders appendix](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/the-appendix/) has to know who holds each token. [Coverage](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/coverage/) is the share of [Book A](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/book-a/) it can place on an address. The page that reports it is block.space/leaderboard/coverage; its API is https://block.space/api/leaderboard/coverage. How the appendix works is on [holders and share of backing](/concepts/holders/).

## The headline figure

The coverage page, read on 2026-10-20 (appendix pass finished 09:20 UTC, bytes and holders both to block 972,199), said:

> The table covers 94.6% of Book A bytes: 126 GB of 134 GB sits on 4,491,923 scripts (1034 of them non-standard, shown by script hash).

The API's exact figures were 126,421,876,377 bytes placed of 133,660,401,043 in Book A, a fraction of 0.9458. The leaderboard's population on the latest reading was 4,492,006 addresses (as of block 972,261, 2026-10-20 12:01:32 UTC).

## What the gap is made of

The page names three parts of the remaining bytes:

- **tokens whose holders no source records**: the protocols that are not measured;
- **tokens with bytes and no holder**: for example a token whose every unit sits in a spent or unresolvable output;
- **holder references that match no token in the books**: their units are "in no figure on this site".

## Protocol by protocol

From the same read, the largest families and the three not measured:

| protocol | Book A | on addresses | covered |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ordinal Sats | 56.1 GB | 56.1 GB | 99.9 % |
| Runes | 33.0 GB | 33.0 GB | 99.9 % |
| BRC-20 | 17.5 GB | 17.3 GB | 99.1 % |
| Alkanes | 11.9 GB | 11.8 GB | 99.1 % |
| Omni | 6.66 GB | not measured | not measured |
| ARC-20 | 4.94 GB | 4.94 GB | 100.0 % |
| Counterparty | 1.21 GB | 1.17 GB | 96.4 % |
| TAP | 1.08 GB | 1.06 GB | 98.7 % |
| brc100 | 142 MB | not measured | not measured |
| op20 | 1.72 MB | not measured | not measured |

The page gives the reason for each gap in words. Omni: no Omni ledger is run. brc100 and op20: "an OP_RETURN script ledger the appendix cannot read". The lowest covered measured family was Pipe, at 86.8 %. Omni is the largest gap: its 6.66 GB is most of the difference between the books and the bytes placed.

Some rows carry notes. For Ordinal Sats, 710 tokens were "pending resolution", their bytes in the gap until the block-by-block replay places them. For Alkanes, 19,257 tokens had "no current holder (every unit sits in a spent or unresolvable output)". Unmatched holder references were listed by source: 131 for SRC-101 names, 20 for Counterparty and 14 for Alkanes.

## How coverage has moved

Alkanes were not measured when the appendix was designed on 2026-10-18. The first full seed, landed at 00:08 on 2026-10-19, placed 85.7 % of Book A on addresses. Alkane holders were then added, read from the alkanes indexer's own database, and coverage stood at 94.6 % on 2026-10-20.

## Why the figure can be trusted

Coverage is a by-product of checks that must pass before a pass commits:

- each token's shares sum to 1;
- per protocol, the bytes on addresses plus the bytes in the gap equal the books;
- C ≤ B ≤ A for every address.

A pass that fails any of these does not commit, and the last good state keeps serving. A pass is one database transaction, so a reader never sees a half-written table. The page also shows how often this happens: on the 2026-10-20 read, 237 passes in the last 24 hours, with a median of 143 seconds each.

## Heights

Each holder source has its own height, and the page lists them all. On that read they ran from block 971,999 (the sat export) to block 972,298, and every source was reconciled to block 972,199, the appendix's single height. See [the frontier and "as of"](/methodology/the-frontier-and-as-of/).

## How to read it

A protocol that is not measured is written "not measured", never 0, and its row stays in the table with its Book A total. Its tokens add nothing to any address, so a leaderboard figure is a figure for the covered part of the books. See [null is never zero](/methodology/null-is-never-zero/).
