## What it is

blockspace.to "tracks spent sats". It is "a Blockspace Labs product": an
[ord](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/ord/) explorer and indexer that also tracks which sats have been spent
(see [spent sats](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/spent-sats/)). [Blockspace Labs](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/blockspace-labs/) lists it as a Live product. It
indexes [inscriptions](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/inscription/) and [runes](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/rune/) on Bitcoin mainnet.

## Status

Live at https://blockspace.to since 2026-10-20 08:32 UTC; the page there
reads "Ordinals" (as of 2026-10-20).

## How it works

blockspace.to runs a fork of ord, "ord server + indexer (spent-sats fork)",
with spent-sat indexing switched on. It is part of Blockspace Holdings'
own Bitcoin node and indexers. Its public page https://blockspace.to/status
reports the indexes it keeps (sats, inscriptions, runes,
addresses, transactions) and its counts. block.space's inscription content
depends on it.

## Key figures

From https://blockspace.to/status, as of block 972,320, 2026-10-20 12:17:07 UTC:

- indexed to block 972,320;
- [inscriptions](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/inscription/): 128,170,184 (127,698,141 blessed,
  472,043 [cursed](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/cursed-inscription/));
- [runes](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/rune/): 216,423;
- [lost sats](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/lost-sats/): 2,895,844,904.

## Glossary

- **Blockspace Holdings**: The holding company behind block.space and every project listed on block.space/projects; its own page is blockspace.holdings. The owner named it "Blockspace Holdings" on 2026-10-20.
- **Blockspace Holdings' node and indexers**: The Bitcoin full node, the ord server and the BTI indexer that Blockspace Holdings runs itself. block.space, blockspace.to and this wiki read their figures from them, and each figure carries the block height and time it was read.
- **Blockspace Labs**: The research and development arm of Blockspace Holdings, at blockspacelabs.com: "research and development for Bitcoin blockspace". blockspace.to is a Blockspace Labs product.
- **cursed inscription**: An inscription ord numbers apart from the blessed ones, with a negative number (such as #−10,508). ord /status counts the two separately.
- **delegate inscription**: An inscription that displays another inscription's content. On block.space it is ranked by the bytes it bought, a few hundred, not by the size of what it shows.
- **envelope**: A data carrier inside a taproot script-path witness, holding content as pushes of at most 520 bytes each. ord's envelope carries the marker `6f7264`; Counterparty and Counters have envelopes of their own.
- **inscription**: Content bound to a sat by ord, carried in a witness envelope. Under BTI's law the inscription is content, not a token: the inscribed sat is the token that claims the bytes.
- **inscription number**: An [inscription](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/inscription/)'s position in the ordering of all inscriptions: #0 was the first, at block 767,430, and [cursed inscriptions](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/cursed-inscription/) carry negative numbers (the first was −1, at block 774,411). The number labels the artifact, the file, not the token or sat that owns it.
- **lost sats**: Sats that coinbase transactions never claimed, so they exist in no output. ord's /status counts them.
- **ord**: The ordinals indexer and explorer. Its fork, run by [Blockspace Holdings](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/blockspace-holdings-node-and-indexers/), serves blockspace.to and is the definitional source for BTI's inscription-to-sat binding, sat numbers and inscription numbers.
- **ordinal number**: The number ord gives each sat. BTI uses it as the sat token's identity (its canonical_ref); ord's numbering is definitional.
- **recursive inscription**: An inscription that refers to other inscriptions' content instead of repeating it. BVT lists recursion as a way to reduce per-item consumption.
- **rune**: A token of the Runes protocol, whose messages (runestones) are carried in an OP_RETURN output tagged OP_13. ord indexes them: its /status counts the runes.
- **spent sats**: The sat ranges of outputs that have already been spent. The ord fork behind blockspace.to runs with --index-spent-sats, so a spent output still answers with its sat ranges; an ord without that flag does not.

## FAQ

### What does blockspace.to do?

It is an [ord](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/ord/) explorer and indexer that also tracks which sats have been spent. In its own line: "Tracks spent sats. A Blockspace Labs product." See [spent sats](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/spent-sats/).

### How many inscriptions does it index?

128,170,184 [inscriptions](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/inscription/), as of block 972,320, 2026-10-20 12:17:07 UTC: 127,698,141 blessed and 472,043 cursed.

### What are lost sats?

Sats that coinbase transactions never claimed, so they exist in no output. ord counts 2,895,844,904 of them (as of block 972,320, 2026-10-20 12:17:07 UTC). See [lost sats](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/lost-sats/).

### Who runs it?

[Blockspace Labs](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/blockspace-labs/), the research and development arm of [Blockspace Holdings](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/blockspace-holdings/). It runs on [Blockspace Holdings' own Bitcoin node and indexers](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/blockspace-holdings-node-and-indexers/), and block.space's inscription content depends on it.
