## What it is

The Labs card is short: "The thesis behind the meter, in its own words a living document and an untested thesis." [Blockspace Value Theory](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/bvt/) is the document behind block.space's meter, which shows how much of Bitcoin's blockspace is attributed to tokens. Labs lists it as Research, not Live, because it is a thesis and has not been tested.

## What the wiki says about it

The theory has its own page, [Blockspace Value Theory](/concepts/blockspace-value-theory/), which describes what BVT proposes and labels it as theory throughout. Two related pages are also theory: [attribution and the axiom](/concepts/attribution-and-the-axiom/), and [the Atomicals natural experiment](/concepts/atomicals-natural-experiment/), which the documents propose as a case to test the thesis against.

## How Labs would test it

A separate Research card, [testing the BVT](/research/testing-the-bvt/), describes an empirical test: does the [price per KB](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/price-per-kb/) of blockspace track the bytes attributed to each token? It would compare the Live projects [the blockspace price](/research/blockspace-price/) and the [Blockspace Token Indexer](/research/blockspace-token-indexer/). No result is claimed.
