Research: one portrait per on-chain collection, composed from the collection's own inscribed images in inscription order, so every portrait can be rebuilt from the chain. In development.

## What it is

One portrait per on-chain [collection](/concepts/collections/), composed from the collection's own inscribed images in inscription order, so that every portrait can be rebuilt from the chain. Its data is block.space's collection ranking and each member's inscribed image.

## The first portrait

The first is the Degents of [degent.club](/projects/degent.club/): 4,112 inscriptions and 1,518,920,128.5 bytes attributed in [Book A](https://blockspace.wiki/glossary/book-a/) (1,518.9 MB), #1 on [block.space/collections](https://block.space/collections), as of ranking block 972,199 (read from https://block.space/api/collections on 2026-10-21 at 12:18 UTC).

## Open questions

The Labs card lists three:
- the composition rule;
- whether the portraits are themselves inscribed;
- the licensing of the member images.
