What it is #

mintbitbars.xyz is, in its own title's words, the "Bitbar Minting App": a page that shows a bitbar and a "Mint Bitbar" button. Its card line on block.space/projects is "Bitbar minting app." No other description of it exists in Blockspace Holdings' records.

Status #

The page is live at https://mintbitbars.xyz (as of 2026-10-20). Since 2026-10-19 it has been served from the code of antron3000/Bitbar-Minting-App, page and image only. The server that the Mint button's QR code comes from did not answer when checked on 2026-10-19.

How it works #

The repository has three parts. The page shows the 1kB bitbar SVG and, on Mint, a payment box: use an ordinals wallet, send 0.00002 BTC to the address shown, and wait. A small server watches that address through a public block explorer API, records each payment and its sender in SQLite, and marks payments of at least 1,641 sats as needing a bitbar. A minter script polls the server for pending mints and inscribes the file with ord (fee rate 3, postage 546 sats) to the sender's address.

Key figures #

  • The 1kB bitbar image the page shows is exactly 1,024 bytes.
  • The minter's log records 7 mints, from 2024-11-30 to 2024-12-01. This wiki reads no live figures for mintbitbars.xyz.

Glossary #

Bitbar
A bar-shaped inscription on Bitcoin whose size is its name: 1 kB (exactly 1,024 bytes), 64 kB, 128 kB and 256 kB. The 1 kB Bitbar is the hero of blockspace.holdings, "Exactly 1,024 bytes on Bitcoin Mainnet", and the page's copy of it must stay exactly 1,024 bytes.
inscription
Content bound to a sat by ord, carried in a witness envelope. Under BTI's law the inscription is content, not a token: the inscribed sat is the token that claims the bytes.
ord
The ordinals indexer and explorer. Its fork, run by Blockspace Holdings, serves blockspace.to and is the definitional source for BTI's inscription-to-sat binding, sat numbers and inscription numbers.

FAQ #

What is a bitbar? #

A bitbar is a bar-shaped inscription whose size is its name. The 1kB bitbar is exactly 1,024 bytes.

Can I mint a bitbar there today? #

The page answers, but on 2026-10-19 the server behind its Mint button's QR code did not answer, and only the page and image are served. Every payment it received was minted: 7 payments, 7 Bitbars, confirmed in blocks 872,656 to 873,182 (2024-11-30 to 2024-12-04). No payment has arrived since (checked 2026-10-20).

How was a mint meant to work? #

The page asks you to use an ordinals wallet (it recommends Unisat), send 0.00002 BTC to the address it shows, and wait: the bitbar is minted to the sending address, at a standard fee rate of 3 sats/vB.

Where is its code? #

In the public repository antron3000/Bitbar-Minting-App: the page, a payment-watching server and a minter script.
