Cursed inscriptions
Research: which rules cursed each inscription, by height, and how the books bind them to sats.
Status on blockspacelabs.com: Research.
What it studies #
The Labs site asks "which rules cursed each inscription, by height, and how the books bind them to sats."
A cursed inscription is one that ord numbers apart from the "blessed" inscriptions, with a negative number. ord's status page counts the two separately. The study has two parts. The first sorts the cursed inscriptions by the rule that cursed them and the block they appeared in. The second checks how the BTI books bind them to the sats they sit on.
The second part has a known gap behind it. A check of 2026-10-19 found that 582 of the top 100,000 inscriptions by size had no sat binding in BTI below the export ceiling, and that they were cursed numbers.
The data it will use #
"ord inscription index and BTI": the ord index behind blockspace.to, and BTI's sat bindings.
The figures on the card #
It is one of the Research cards that shows a current figure, because one already exists with an "as of". At 2026-10-20 09:07:08 UTC the card read 472,043 cursed and 127,697,223 blessed inscriptions. The wiki's own reading, as of block 972,308, 2026-10-20 11:17:25 UTC: 472,043 cursed and 127,697,548 blessed.
No result of the study is claimed. Inscriptions explains how inscriptions are made and numbered.
