What it is #

space.market is "the primary market for Bitcoin blockspace": what a kilobyte in the next blocks costs, meaning the fee rate a new transaction pays to get its bytes into a block. Blockspace already used and resold, as inscriptions and tokens, is the secondary market, at blockspace.markets.

Status #

Live at https://space.market since 2026-10-20. It is rebuilt every 10 minutes from Blockspace Holdings' own Bitcoin node.

How it works #

A kilobyte is 1,000 vbytes, a transaction's weight divided by 4, and its cost is the fee rate times 1,000 vB. The site shows four prices: the node's fee estimates for confirmation within 2, 3 and 6 blocks, and the median fee rate of the block the node would hand a miner now. It shows the mempool too. When the estimator and recent blocks disagree, both are shown: the estimator does not go below 1 sat/vB, while recent blocks have confirmed transactions below that (see relay policy). Neither number is a promise that a transaction will confirm.

Key figures #

From space.market's reading (as of block 972,317, 2026-10-20 12:08:53 UTC):

  • 1 kB within the next blocks: 1,010 sats; within 6 blocks: 1,010 sats;
  • the median fee rate in the node's block template: 1.974 sat/vB;
  • the mempool held 25.27 blocks' worth of transactions.

Knowledge #

FAQ #

How is space.market different from blockspace.markets? #

space.market prices new bytes: what space in the next blocks costs, from the fee rate a new transaction pays. blockspace.markets prices bytes already consumed: inscriptions and tokens resold, per kilobyte. One is the primary market for blockspace, the other the secondary market.

What is a kilobyte there? #

1,000 virtual bytes: a transaction's weight divided by 4. The cost of 1 kB is the fee rate in sat/vB times 1,000, in sats.

Can I buy blockspace there? #

No. It shows prices; it sells nothing and takes no transaction (as of 2026-10-20).
